Charminar – Hyderabad’s icon

The Charminar (“Four Minarets”)is one of the most recognisable structures located in Hyderabad, Telangana, India.

Though there are various stories present today, it is widely believed that Muhammad Quli Qutb Shah built Charminar to commemorate the end of cholera present at that time. It is also located at the centre of Hyderabad.

The minars or the minarets are supported by four giant arches. Almost 400 years old, Charminar also has a mosque at the top.

It is one of the locations where you get some of the best Hyderabadi food in the surrounding markets and is one of the widely popular locations for celebrating Ramzaan.
